The Palace of Holyroodhouse is the residence of the royal family when they're in Edinburgh.
The last time I was here, about 20 years ago, it was closed to tourists because some minor royal was staying there for a week. I was excited to take the girls for a tour. So many of the things we've seen here have been repeats for me because I want to show them the highlights of each city we've toured.
When we tried to get in, we discovered it's closed for the next two weeks. Evidently I have terrible karma for seeing this place. I'll just have to come back.
In good news, we got to see some bands rehearsing in the courtyard. The kids liked seeing all the guys in kilts.
